TARDIS blend
TARDISblend is the official Geeks of Doom (http://geeksofdoom.com) podcast dedicated to the Universe(s) of Doctor Who, Torchwood, and the Sarah Jane Adventures. Hosted by Greg Davies and Tom Cheredar.

Unseen, but heard of for years… now finally since the Classic Doctor Whoepisode The Invasion of Time, and last season’s The Doctor’s Wife, fans now finally get to Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS. In a moment of lowered security, the TARDIS is magnetically hauled in by a group of salvagers, hoping to profit from the find.

But the TARDIS is damaged in the haul, and the Doctor (Matt Smith) separated from Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman)as he is found inexplicably outside of the TARDIS. Slyly enlisting the assistance of the salvagers, the Doctor begins a search for Clara; which will lead to a perilous situation in which they will all need to find their way to the centre of the TARDIS…

During TARDISblend 63, we bring up the onslaught of continuity tips thrown in to the episode, from The Eye of Harmony to The Doctor’s Crib, and much more. We also go into the newer elements shown in the TARDIS within this chapter, including some that may play a part, or at least hold clues, to the season finale and the 50th Anniversary Special.

Later, we take a glance at some of the references to Classic Doctor Whoepisodes, and make some recommendations for our listeners to check out. All this and more on the latest TARDISblend!

Classic Doctor Who villains, THE ICE WARRIORS, make a triumphant return in Cold War this week, as the 7th Series of modern Doctor Whocontinues. In the story written by Mark Gatiss and directed by Douglas Mackinnon, the Doctor (Matt Smith) and companion Clara Oswald (Jenna-Louise Coleman) take a wrong turn in the TARDIS on the way to Las Vegas, and end up materializing on a sinking Soviet Submarine at the height of Cold War tensions in 1983.

While the materialization would ordinarily be an immediate threat to the Russian sailors, our heroes arrive in the middle of a crisis, with equipment damaged on the boat causing it to sink. Professor Grisenko (David Warner), attached to the command of Captain Zhukov (Liam Cunningham) for scientific drilling in the Arctic, has discovered a surviving Ice Warrior, who begins waging bloody war with the occupants of the submarine.

During TARDISblend 61, we celebrate a brilliant return of the fantastic Ice Warriors, their first appearance in 39 years. We also commend the performances by the spectacular guest stars on this episode, and look into the possibilities for the return of these characters, and perhaps more Ice Warriors adventures in the future…

As usual, we make some Classic Who recommendations too… All this and more on the latest TARDISblend!
