It’s been a while, but it’s time for another TARDISblend – and now with filming underway for Doctor Who Series 7, the floodgates have opened on the news and rumor mill. During TARDISblend 48, we preview the schedule for Series 7 and 8, as showrunner Steven Moffat begins the lead to the massive 50th Anniversary year in 2013.

We take a look at the confirmed information, as well as the unconfirmed rumors – including one that hints of a main star from Moffat’s Sherlockmay be taking on the reigns of a familiar long-time Who villain. We also discuss the possibilities of the new companion for the Doctor (Matt Smith) into Series 7 and beyond, as Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) make their “heartbreaking” exit; as well as what is ahead for River Song (Alex Kingston).

Outside of the run-up to the new series, we take a look at IDW’s upcomingDoctor Who / Star Trek cross-over comic, and the fan movement to getDavid Tennant to light the Olympic flame this year. Christmas time has come and gone, and with the festive season, as always, we received the gift of a Doctor Who Christmas Special for 2011. The Doctor (Matt Smith) finds himself indebted to Madge Arwell (Claire Skinner), a mother from World War II era England, for saving his life. The Doctor, after learning that her husband is missing and presumed dead during the war, decides to help provide the best Christmas ever to Madge and her children.

In his effort, he uses technology from TARDIS to create a Christmas present that is, in fact, a dimensional portal to another planet called Androzani Major. Unfortunately one of the children sneak into the present early and begin exploring the world… the Doctor follows only to find that this planet of Christmas trees is not only in risk, but so is Madge and her children.

During TARDISblend 47, we review the events of The Doctor, The Widow, and The Wardrobe, and examine the personal connections and character development of our favorite Time Lord – as well as the brilliant performance by Matt Smith, continuing to make the role his own. We also discuss the short appearance of Bill Bailey, and discuss our hopes to see him return to another episode of Doctor Who in the future.

Later, we highlight how Steven Moffat speaks his own thoughts and clues through the dialogue of the Doctor in his writing, we make some Classic Doctor Who recommendations, and highlight what is coming up for both the future of Doctor Who and the TARDISblend!

This edition of the TARDISblend is a special one: a commentary track we’ve recorded for one of the episodes from Doctor Who Series 6. Arguably one of the best of the season, the Neil Gaiman penned The Doctor’s Wife, is what we focus on for this edition. Joining us for the commentary are Jay Fowler, Andy Sorcini, and Anthony Ha.

The commentary sequencing is very simple. Cue up your version of The Doctor’s Wife, press play on the podcast. After the mini-intro, you’ll hear a sequence of four beeps. On the fourth beep, resume the playing of The Doctor’s Wife with the volume down low. We hope you enjoy it!

Tom Cheredar and Greg Davies will be returning later in the year for a TARDISblend review of the upcoming Christmas special. Keep checking Geeks of Doom for all the latest Whoniverse news.

We bid farewell to the wonderful Elisabeth Sladen, as The Sarah Jane Adventures concludes, with a story that includes an odd CEO of a big tech corporation that Sarah Jane and her companions must investigate. With some underhanded references to modern tech companies, we soon learn that the company is nothing more than a front for something far more sinister and disturbing.

During TARDISblend 45, we review the events of The Man Who Never Was, and pay tribute to Elisabeth Sladen in final adventure in the Whoniverse. Later we make a few recommendations for people to check out, both in earlier Sarah Jane episodes, and in the era of Classic Doctor Who.

The Sarah Jane Adventures continues, with a new adventure that’s become considered to be as good as a Doctor Who episode. An odd meteorological occurance leads Sarah Jane (Elisabeth Sladen) and her team into investigating a strange totem pole on display in a museum. While examining the exhibit, Clyde Langer (Daniel Anthony) gets cut by a splinter from the totem, causing an unnerving series of events.

Following his blood being spilt by the totem, Clyde’s name becomes cursed… turning everyone around him to hate and despise him after the mention of his name. Disowned and kicked out from home, Langer finds himself on the streets alone, homeless, and without hope… until a homeless girl he had previously helped callled Ellie (Lily Loveless) enters his life, and helps him adjust to the street life.

But the curse doesn’t end there. The totem is in fact a prison for a malicious alien, and is using the curse to psychically cause its escape. The events lead up to a pivotal moment where Clyde must make a choice: shall he save the life of one person – of the life of billions?

During TARDISblend 44, we review the events of The Curse of Clyde Langer, and look at the impressive performance put in by Daniel Anthony, in an episode that was quite mature and very emotional. The serial takes on the complicated, but important, issue of homelessness, in addition to the usual fare of adventures involving aliens.

We also review a couple of historical facts brought up in the episode, including the curious Curse of Tippecanoe. Later, we make some early Sarah Jane Adventures and Classic Doctor Who recommendations, and discuss what YOU had to say in comments on previous episodes. All this and more on the latest TARDISblend!

Elisabeth Sladen may be gone, but she is not forgotten, as her final episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures are released at long last. The fifth and final series begins with a strange knock on the door in the middle of the night, in which Sarah Jane finds an infant abandoned at her doorstep.

Naming the baby Sky, she soon discovers this child has the strange ability to conduct and absorb energy, causing havoc across the area. But Sarah Jane is convinced that Sky was brought to her for a reason – and it turns out that it is central to a galactic war between two civilizations who have now brought their battles to Earth.

During TARDISblend 43, we review the events of Sky, and look at the extensive history of Sarah Jane and how much Elisabeth Sladen has contributed to the universes of Doctor Who. We also take a look at the next adventure in the series, that places Clyde Langer (Daniel Anthony) as the central focus of the episodes.

Later, we make some early Sarah Jane Adventures and Classic Doctor Who recommendations. All this and more on the latest TARDISblend!

As Series Six of Doctor Who begins to race to its conclusion, the Doctor (Matt Smith) is on the tail end of a 200 year journey since separating from companions Amy and Rory Williams (Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill). Before taking the steps towards his deadly encounter with the Impossible Astronaut, Madame Kovarian (Frances Barber), and the Silents, the Time Lord decides to drop in on an old friend: Craig Owens (James Corden).

But the social visit turns out to be a destiny with danger, as the Doctor begins to detect strange things afoot in a shop near Craig’s home. The two team up, and along with Craig and Sophie’s (Daisy Haggard) baby Alfie, they quickly discover a new plot from the dreaded Cybermen… and it could be a disastrous showdown.

During TARDISblend 41, we review the events of Closing Time, and look at the conclusion to the journey the heroes face in this adventure. We reminisce on some of the connections to both Classic and Modern Doctor Who episodes made during this adventure, examine the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver a little closely, and debate the concluding scenes of this episode featuring River Song (Alex Kingston) as we speed towards the season finale.

The season finale, entitled The Wedding of River Song, features an all star cast featuring many different characters that have made appearances since the resurgence of Doctor Who with Christopher Eccleston in 2005. Later, we make some Classic Doctor Who recommendations, and discuss what YOU had to say in comments on previous episodes.

Series Six of Doctor Who continues, with the Doctor (Matt Smith) and companions, Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill), arrive in a mysterious cliched 1980′s Earth hotel. But not everything is as it seems – the Doctor detects the scenery to be an imitation, and as they find other people in the hotel, they discover it is an unending labyrinth that shapeshifts and changes.

More significantly is that there seems to be a hotel room for each person, within which it contains their deepest and darkest fears. But beyond these bad dreams personified is a deeper evil, something feeding on more than just fear itself…

During TARDISblend 39, we review the events of The God Complex, and look at the unexpected closing of the show, which directly leads in to the next episode, Closing Time, featuring the return of Craig and Sophie Owen (James Corden and Daisy Haggard).

We also speculate on what was in the Doctor’s hotel room, Room 11, and explore the history behind the Minotaur culture responsible for the hotel. Also, don’t talk to the clown! Later, we make some Classic Doctor Who recommendations, and discuss what YOU had to say in comments on previous episodes.
